Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock a car accident occurred
near Globe, Arizona, in which W. F. Gabbert, about 66, of Eola was fatally
injured. Mr. Gabbert died about an hour later.
The car, driven by John Williams overturned as the result of
a collision. It was occupied by the deceased's wife, daughter, Miss Faye Belle,
and the driver.
Mrs. Gabbert was in a critical condition at the time of the
last dispatch and Miss Gabbert suffered a dislocated shoulder.
The party was returning from a vacation trip to California.
Reports reveal that the body will be shipped
from Globe Sunday.
Wednesday night Mr. and Mrs. Waide Crunk of Paint Rock and
Kenneth Wood and Butch Killam of Eola left for Globe to be of assistance to the
family and help with funeral arrangements which are incomplete at this time.
Mr. Gabbert, a native of Arkansas, moved to Concho county in
1899 and was a citizen of Paint Rock until 1920 at which time he moved with his
family to Eola where he has been an active merchant and civic worker and at the
time of the tragedy was serving as postmaster.
