Mrs. S. A. Eaker, 95, Buried There Sunday Afternoon
Mrs. S. A. Eaker, 95 years
old died Sunday morning at 4 o'clock at the home of her son. A. A. Eaker, near
Eden. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon., burial being in the Eden
Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons Y. Y. Eaker of Eden, Perry Smith of
Stanton and a daughter, Mrs. Jim Rogers of Eldorado. All the children were
present for the funeral. Mrs. Eaker survived two husbands.
The Rev. Clem Hoover of Goldthwaite officiated at the
funeral. Mrs. Eaker was a native of Arkansas.

Sunday
Mrs. Sarah Ann Eaker, who was 95 years old last July
23rd, died at the home of her son, Y. Y. Eaker, Saturday night. She was the
oldest person in this community it is believed. She had bee bedfast for the last
eight years, through feebleness, but, began sinking rapidly only a day or two
before the end.
She was born in Eldorado, Arkansas, July 23, 1837, and came
to Texas about 65 years ago. However she had been here only a little more than a
year, at her son's home. A daughter, Mrs. J. P. Rogers and her husband, also
lived there to help take care of her. She survived two husbands, and has three
children living, Mrs. J. P. Rogers of this place, P. A. Smith of Eldorado, and
Y. Y. Eaker. Mr. Eaker is the youngest and the only survivor of five children by
her second marriage.
Interment was in the Eden cemetery Sunday afternoon, Elder C.
W. Hoover of the Church of Christ officiating. Deceased had been a member of
this church 82 years. The two of her children who live here were at the funeral.
Mr. Smith being unable to come on account of poor health. Grady Eaker, a
grandson, and his family, from Oklahoma City, Ed Eaker, a grandson, and Mrs.
Martin Looney and Mrs. Ila Sanders, great-granddaughters, and Mr. Sanders, all
of Mason, John Rogers, a grandson, and his family and Mrs. Charlie Yancey, a
granddaughter, and her husband, all of Eldorado, Mrs. J. E,. Latham and family,
of Mason, and Claud Eaker, grandson, Eden, were the near relatives of the
deceased who were present. A number of old friends from Mason County, where she
formerly lived were present. Carl and Ira Eaker, sons of Y. Y. Eaker, are in San
Antonio and Los Angeles, respectively and could not return home.
A Host of friend here sorrowed with the bereaved ones, sand
heard of her nearly five-score years of exemplary living.
