WILLIAM HICKNEY (PICKNEY) DODSON
Died - At his residence in
the Hills, October 24th '98 from a complication of diseases, William Hinkney
(sic) Dodson. Deceased was born in Columbia county Ky., January 25, 1825, and
was married in Wain(sic) (Wayne) county, Mo. in 1850 to Miss Rachel G. Dunn,
professing religion early in life. He joined the Masonic Fraternity during the
civil war. Judge Dodson- as he was commonly known- has been a resident of this

a few days. Dr. Burleson was called and his son Dr. Tom Dodson, of Sonora, was
also present, but his time had come and he passed away. Besides him many
friends, he leaves a loving wife, several children, and a host of relatives to
mourn his death. The burial services were performed at the church here by Rev. _
W. Swofford, and he was buried with Masonic honors in the Paint Rock Cemetery
Tuesday evening at 6:30. May his sole rest in peace, and the Herald extends
sincere condolence to the bereaved relatives.
Note: Rev. G. W. Swofford was a Methodist Minister in Paint Rock at this time. CLM
