65 persons attended the annual Currie reunion which was held on the Concho River
near the W. G. Currie ranch home in Concho County recently.
Guests started arriving Tuesday and the gathering opened
Wednesday with a barbecued chicken dinner. Other festivities included watermelon
and cantaloupe feasts, a fish supper Friday evening, goat barbecue, and games of
forty-two, monopoly, swimming, boating, and fishing. Both Thursday and Friday
morning the men held wolf chases, bringing in a wolf Friday that was caught on
the ranch, which is about 16 miles east of town.
W. C. (G) Currie had been living in Concho County about 50
years, coming here with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. D. B. Currie. Mr. and Mrs.
Currie located on their ranch 37 years ago and have lived there since with the
exception of several school terms spent in Paint Rock. they recently constructed
a ten-room home in town.
