T. J. CRUNK
T. J. Crunk, a
resident of this place for 50 years, passed away at his home n Smith Bros ranch
early Saturday morning, April 21. Mr. Crunk had not been in good health for
several months, but his death came as a shock to the family and friends. He was
born in Hayes county, near Martindale, in 1871 and came to Paint Rock when 12
years of age. He was married to Miss Odessa Waide here in June 1898. For the
past several years he has served the Smith interests here as manager of the
ranch.
Mr. Crunk was a member of the Baptist church and was a truly
devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and a friend to all.
Funeral services were held at the ranch home at 2 o'clock
Sunday afternoon with Rev. J. W. Sailors, Baptist preacher and Rev. L. D. Hardt,
Methodist pastor, both of Paint Rock, officiating. Services at the grave were
directed by members of the Masonic Lodge in the presence of a very large crowd.
Burial was under the direction of Waide Funeral Home, and Higginbotham Bros.
Active pall bearers were: W. H. Haynes, H. G. Stephenson, P. W. Williams, H. H.
Ratchford and W. W. Boswell. Honorary pall bearers: O. L. Sims, F. A. Smith, W.
C. Fuller, Ray Hargis, Wood Hargis, W. G. Currie, A. H. Benge, E. E. Ford, Jack
Wyatt, Frank Wyatt, Fred Fuller, Walter Fuller, V. D. Fuller, Sr., V. D. Fuller,
jr, Doll Curry, W. T. Molloy, Dan Molloy, Leo Molloy, G. Huston, A. A. Goforth,
W. A. Tillery.
Survivors include the widow, four daughters, Mrs. Lola
Tillery, Henderson; Mrs. Emma Sue Currie, Iraan; Miss Odessa Crunk, a teacher in
the public schools in Smackover, Ark.; and Miss Marjorie Crunk, Paint Rock;
three sons, J. Waide, Billie and Jack Crunk, all of Paint Rock, and three
sisters, Mrs. J. M. Standefer, Plainview, Mrs. W. F. Gabbert, Eola, and Mrs.
Alfred Robinson, California.

PAINT ROCK, April 23- Funeral services
for T. J. Crunk, pioneer cowman of Concho County, were held from the ranch home
near here at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Officiating were the Rev. J. W.
Sailors, First Baptist pastor, and the Rev. L. D. Hardt, First Methodist pastor,
both of Paint Rock. Services at the grave were directed by members of the
Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Crunk, 62 years of age, had been in failing health for
sometime. He died suddenly Saturday morning. He was born Oct. 9 1871, near
Martindale, Hill County and came to Paint Rock when he was 12 years of age. He
was here in June 1898. For a number of years he had served the Smith interests
here as manager of the Smith ranch.
Survivors include the widow, four daughters, Mrs. Lola
Tillery, Henderson; Mrs, Emma Sue Currie, Iraan; Miss Odessa Crunk, a teacher in
public schools at Smackover, Ark. and Miss Marjorie Crunk, Paint Rock; and three
sisters, Mrs. J. M. Standifer, Plainview, Mrs. W. F. Gabbert, Eola and Mrs.
Alfred Robinson, California.
