MRS. H. T. CARTER
Mrs. H. T. Carter, 89 died
suddenly Saturday Dec 16 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. F. Fickle at
Concho with heart failure.
She leaves behind her a record of as good as the best of
mothers as God laid out the duties of mother. She fulfilled the bill in every
respect. She and her good husband reared nine children of the ten born to them,
all doing well and the very best of citizens-all are rustlers and have a good
education. What more did God expect?
Mrs. Carter was born July 22, 1864 in the state of Arkansas
moved to Texas when a small child and in 1887 she was married to H. T. Carter,
who preceded her in death some four years ago. Those who survive her are: Harris
and Roy Carter, Waco Texas, Shelby Carter, Baltimore Maryland, Claude Carter,
Harlengen Texas, Sam and Joe Carter, New York City, New York, John Carter, San
Francisco, California, Mrs. H. F. Fickle Concho Texas, and Mrs. Alice Tunnell,
Miles Texas.
Mrs. Carter and her husband lived in Coke County for about 40
years and reared their children in Valley View, seven miles south of Robert Lee
Scattered to the four corners of the United States, this is home to them.
Mr. Carter was a loveable Christian mother. She united with
the Premitive Baptist Church at Valley View in 1890 and lived a devoted
christian live until the end came.
The remains were brought to Robert Lee Sunday and placed in
the silent tomb beside her husband.
The funeral was preached by the Rev. J. W. Leggitt, pastor of
the Methodist Church at the Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. Sunday
Pall Bearers were Lem Cowley, W. B. Bessent, Cleve Casey, A.
E. Latham, Albert Baze and Bob Roberts.
