NATIONAL WORLD WAR II  MEMORIAL, WASHINGTON, D.C.

This index was the result of querying the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases (AAD), "World War II Army Enlistment Records, created, 6/1/2002 - 9/30/2002, documenting the period ca. 1938 - 1946."  This series contains records of approximately nine million men and women who enlisted in the United States Army, including the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps.  Although incomplete, the records contain data for a majority of the enlistments in the United States Army during World War II.  The bulk of the records conform to the format found on War Department Adjutant General's Office (WD AGO) Form 317 (Enlistment Card) for the period ca. 1941-1945, and WD AGO Form 372 (Enlistment Card) for ca. 1945-1946.  Additional records contain data originally recorded on Enlisted Reserve Corps (E.R.C.) Statistical cards.  In general, the records contain the serial number, name, state and county of residence, place of enlistment, date of enlistment, grade, Army branch, term of enlistment, longevity, nativity (place of birth), year of birth, race, education, civilian occupation, marital status, height and weight (before 1943), military occupational specialty (1945 and later), component, and box and reel number of the microfilmed punch cards.  Important Note:  There is approximately a 0.7% error rate of the more than 36,000 WWII Enlistment records listed for Harris County, Texas in the U.S. NARA AAD.  This is what I consider a significant error rate for a large database system.  Many records in this index have been corrected from their original form in the  U.S. NARA AAD data, but many still require further research to be corrected.  If you use this corrected index as a search tool for querying the U.S. NARA AAD, utilize only the soldier's serial number of the record obtained from this index.  This is because of the many surname errors in the U.S. NARA AAD database that have been corrected in this index. Once your record is queried on the U.S. NARA AAD, utilizing this index and the soldier's serial number,  the complete record can be viewed and printed.   Check all data first and verify with a second source.  This index should only be used as a guide.  THE  RECORD ERRORS NOT RESEARCHED AND CORRECTED WILL BE LINKED AT THE END OF THIS PAGE.  Please report any and all inconsistencies, errors and corrections.  And if you have any additional information please share it to complete this muster.  D.
