1. WILLIAM MIRT SR.4 LUSTER (JESSE HOWARD3, JAMES S.2, JACOB1) was born 17 July 1899 in Wills Point, Van Zandt Co. TX., and died 01 February 1968 in Madera, Madera Co., CA.. He married BERTHA MAE LYNCH 13 May 1924 in Empire City, Stephens Co., OK, daughter of UNKNOWN LYNCH and ANNA UNKNOWN. She was born 26 December 1909 in Ardmore or Duncan or Healdton, Carter Co., OK, and died 04 May 1930 in Skellytown, Carson Co., TX.

"Big Bill" did most of the Turkey cooking for our Family at Thanksgiving and Christmas, as he had been a Cook in the Army, and was admired for his knowledge of making,
"A MIGHTY TASTY BIRD", enjoyed by every one.

Information provided by Grandson Darell;
This story was told to Little Bill by an old friend of his father's many years ago.
"It seems that "Big Bill" worked in the Oil Fields of the Texas Panhandle, and as there was little modern mechanical technology, most of the work had to be done by hand, and as Big Bill was young and strong he became known for being, "AS STRONG AS AN OX", he would lift one end of a heavy drill pipe while there were several other men on the other end." He worked at a Roustabout, also Oilfield construction .

Notes for WILLIAM MIRT JR (LITTLE BILL) LUSTER:
"Little Bill" joined the military at a very young age, about 15/16 years old, only a few days or weeks after Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, during WW2. He served in the South Pacific/New Guinea for a period of time. Little Bill Luster, left for Overseas on 27 June 1943, spent 2 years 4 months 5 days in the Pacific Theater. Discharged from Military Service on 14 November 1945 at Camp Blanding, Florida.

Services Held for William Luster Jr., 72, In Pampa.
Graveside services were held for William Mirt "Bill" Luster Jr., 72 of Pampa on Monday, June 29, at the White Deer Cemetery, in White Deer with Rev. Monte Kreis, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Booker officiating. Arrangements were made by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral directors.
Mr. Luster was born on Feb. 3, 1926, in Empire City, OK. He was reared in Skellytown and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps four days after the Attack on Pearl Harbor. He served with the 5th Air Force in the Pacific theater participating in the Philippines Campaign and the Battle of New Guinea. He was honorably discharged at the end of World War II and returned to Pampa in 1946.
Mr Luster worked in the Oil fields around Pampa working for Cree Drilling, Baker and Taylor, Leonard Hudson Drilling and others.
He was preceded in death by a son Johnny Eugene Luster of Lakeland, Florida. Survivors include three sons, Darell Luster of White Deer, Larry Luster of Broken Arrow, Okla, and David Luster of Pampa, and by six grandchildren and two great granddaughters. The family requests memorial be sent to the Golden Spread Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Amarillo.
