Albade ~ ca 1861
Albade was located about two miles
north of present day Lytton Springs. Settlers began arriving as early as 1856,
and the town was founded in 1861. In 1859 there was a post office established
and the mail was delivered by stage. John Barnett was appointed postmaster;
however, in 1861 the Post Office closed. The community continued to grow, and in
1870 a cotton gin was built along with the establishment of several stores and a
tabernacle. A post office was established in 1872 by Mr. H. W. Perry in his
home, and he became the postmaster. A census record shows that 22 families lived
in a radius of the postal center. Albade didn't die or fade away. It simply
became another town, Lytton Springs. Source - Caldwell County Kin: The First
