Volunteer

Burnet County, TXGenWeb
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are many opportunities for people to become involved in the GenWeb Project which is dedicated to making geneaological information available on line for free. Below are several areas where you can get involved. Very few take any special skills other than the desire to help others, meet and work with a lot of great people. Also, you can committ as much or as little time as you'd like to the work. If you'd like to volunteer in any of these areas, click on one or more of the links to submit an e-mail to the appropriate person.

1. Get Burnet County information online. If you want to help make this the best county page ever, volunteer to enter information into a computer. Type obituaries, biographies, wills, newspaper articles, deeds, ANYTHING...that pertains to the history of our County. Or, send me copies of information you have and I'll get it online. Let me know what you can do to help.

2. Sponsor a county in another state. To find out if a county you're interested in is available, go to USGenWeb and select the state where the county is located. Each state page will have instructions on how to volunteer to sponsor a county for that state.

3. Lookup specific items in one or more counties. If you possess genealogy data such as census information, deeds, wills, etc. you can volunteer to do lookups for people who are seeking specific information. Or if you live in a county seat, near a LDS Family Research Center or other respository of genealogy data you can volunteer to do lookups. If you're interested in volunteering to do lookups for this county, contact me via e-mail and let me know the type of lookup and data you are willing to do. We ask all our visitors to provide specific information regarding the information they are looking for and limit that to one or two names.
