Mrs. J. C. Watkins Died Here Last Friday P. M.
Mrs. J. C. Watkins,
a life time resident of Burnet County, died at the home
of her son, Joe
Watkins, here Friday, March 26,
at 8: 40 p. m. after a brief illness of pneumonia of two
days.
She came here for a visit the Sunday before, being in
good health for
her age up till her last illness.
Funeral services and burial were in the Holland cemetery
at 3:00 p. m.
Sunday. Linnie
Nobles
conducted the services. Pallbearers were M.
S. and L. A. Warner, Forrest Shelby, Ira
Feild, Buck Fariss and Will Allen.
Mrs. Watkins was Nancy
Harriett Nicks
before her marriage and was born in Strickland
community, Burnet
county, September 27, 1866. She had lived in
Burnet county all
her life and in Burnet the past several years, most of
her life,
however, having been spent in the section near Lake
Victor.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by the following children; Mrs.
Henry Berry
of Lampasas, J. C.
Watkins Jr., of Electra, Joe
Watkins of Lampasas, Mrs.
K. M. Chambliss of California, Mrs.
O. R. Brewster of Burnet and Vernon
Watkins of California; by one
brother, S. I. Nicks
of
Eldorado, thirty grandchildren and several
great-grandhcildren.
All the children and the brother were here for the
funeral except the
two in California. |
