M. J. BOLT CALLED BY DEATH
Last Friday, August 17, 1928, M. J. Bolt was called by death. His funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. J. D. Kursell officiating. Burial was at the old Cemetery. The pallbearers were Ray Wingren, Bunk Gibbs, Willis Smith, Hardy Debo, Frank Atkinson and L. Debo.
He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters: Frank Bolt of Burnet, Jeff Bolt of Burnet, Mrs. Horace Fry of Brownwood, and Mrs. W. B. Atkinson of Grosvenor, Texas, all of whom were at his side when the end came.
M. J. Bolt was born
October 7th, 1841 in Polk County, Missouri, making him at the time of
his death more than 80 years of age. He moved to Burnet County in 1853
which was 75 years ago. In 1867 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Brooks,
and during their 61 years of married life she has been his loving
companion in the hours of joy and sorrow that come sooner or later into
the lives of every married couple.
Mr. Bolt was truly a pioneer of this section of Texas. He saw the
country grow from the home of the Indian and desperado into the
civilization we have today and assisted very materially in this
transformation. In the early days of this state he served as a Texas
Ranger, and was a gallant Confederate soldier in the Civil War.
As a man, Mr. Bolt was honored and respected by everyone who knew him,
and his splendid reputation should be cherished by the loved ones who
survive him.
