About Us

My name is Sara Cross and I am the Briscoe County Coordinator for The TXGenWeb Project.  The USGenWeb Project is committed to providing FREE genealogical and historical information online to researchers.  Records that are available to the public should not be sold and that is why we are comitted to bringing free information to the internet.

If you would like to join The USGenWeb Project team, you can by adopting a county in any state.  To adopt an available county, just check out a state that you are interested in and contact the State Coordinator of that project.  You can also help out by volunteering to do lookups for a county you live in or with any type of historical or genealogical book you own.  Other opportunties include taking photos of cemeteries, tombstones, courthouses, historical markers, etc. and transcribing records like a census, cemetery, vital records and other county records.

About the USGenWeb Project

"In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. In June, as the Kentucky Project was coming to completion, it was decided to create this page for all states. Volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of county pages for each state page" (TXGenWeb Project).
