Mrs. Johann (Ida) Schlador Heinen
22 MAR 1850   -    31 JUL 1925

The whole community was made sad last Sunday morning when the news spread that Mrs. J. P. Heinen, Sr., had passed away Saturday night at her home on the Heinen ranch below town. She had been in ill health for some time, but her condition was not considered serious until Saturday night when she had an attack of heart failure, and the end came quickly.

Mrs. Ida Schlador Heinen was born at New Braunfels, Texas, March 22, 1850, and when a little child she moved with her parents to Comfort, where she grew to young womanhood. Later she moved to Bandera county, and in 1868 was happily married to J. P. Heinen. She was the mother of eight children, six sons and two daughters, all of whom survive her. The children are: Will Heinen of Los Angeles, California, Oscar, Ed, John, Elmer, Miss Ida, Mrs. Laura Reinarz, all of Bandera, and Harry Heinen of Port Arthur. All were present at the funeral except her son, Will Heinen, who was unable to reach here. Her husband, J. P. Heinen, Sr., died in 1922.

This in brief is the life history of an excellent pioneer mother. Everybody loved Mrs. Heinen; she was of a gentle, sweet disposition, kind and affectionate to her family, a good neighbor, and her passing leaves a vacancy that cannot be filled.

The funeral was conducted at Bandera cemetery Monday afternoon by Elder Elijah Smith of the International Bible Students' Association. Friends and relatives from Comfort, San Antonio, Boerne, Pipe Creek and Bandera were in attendance at the funeral. The floral offerings were beautiful and the grave of this good woman was piled high with a mass of flowers placed there by loving friends.

To the bereaved children the New Era offers condolence and sympathy in this hour of their great sorrow.
