March 1, 1898; Issue 25761. "Death of an Alderman at ninety five. Alderman Tucker of Bridport died yesterday aged ninety five. When a boy deceased was rowed out to the Bellerophon in torbay, and saw Napolean walking on the quarter deck. He was Mayor of Bridport in 1851, the year of the great exhibition, and took part in the Jubliee festivities last year". Reynolds's Newspaper (London, England), Sunday, March 6, 1898; Issue 2482. "Mr Richard tucker, JP, died from influenza at Bridport on monday in his ninety sixth year. the deceased was made Magistrate early in the Queens reign and was Mayor of Bridport in 1851. Mr tucker saw Napolean a prisoner on the Bellerophon when she was lying in Torbay." |
