Fort Stanwix Park

Fort Stanwix Park was the site of the early Rome Burial Grounds. As the city spread out this site was no longer acceptable for burials and land was purchased on Jervis Ave for the Rome Cemetery. The bodies were removed from here to the new Rome Cemetery. An extensive renovation of the grounds was started in 2002 and additional remains and tombstones were found and removed.
