Mrs. Sarah E. Wellman, 73, of 818 Calvert Street, died Monday, October 22, 1984, in Oneida City Hospital after a long illness.

She was born June 29, 1911 in Westmoreland, a daughter of Oaks and Elizabeth Andes Ferguson. On September 16, 1930 she married Maynard R. Wellman in ROme. Mr. Wellman died Dec 23, 1979.

Educated in Rome schools, Mrs. Wellman spent most of her life in Rome and worked as a practical nurse.

She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church and the Letter Carrier Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Casey of Saratoga Springs, Mrs. Kenneth (Eileen) McHale of Winter Park, Fla., and Mrs. Earl (Marian) Raines of Las Vegas, Nev., three sons, Maynard C. Wellman of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Ronald O. Wellman and Bruce A. Wellman, both of Rome, two sisters, Miss Maude Ferguson and Mrs. Irene Wheeler, both of Rome, 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday at Griffin and Aldridge Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rome Cemetery.
