Frances M. Payne, 72, of Rome Towers Apartments, died Saturday, March 29, 1980, in Rome Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born on October 22, 1997, in Rome, a daughter of John and Bessie Mansfield Fahey. On November 25, 1937, she was married to Robert G. Payne in St. Mary's Church. He died Nov. 16, 1975.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul A. (Patricia) Roskowitz, Cedar, Minn., a son, Robert V. Payne, Danbury, Conn., two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Corso and Mrs. Alice Allspaugh, both of West Haven, Conn, and six grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
