George E. McCann, 69, of RD 2, McFarland Road, died this morning in Rome Hospital after a long illness. Son of Joseph & Esther Perkins McCann, he was born Mar. 18, 1901 in Brooklyn. He was a graduate of St. Michael's High School, Brooklyn, and served in the Navy during World War I. On Mar. 4, 1921, he married Edna Detweller in Brooklyn. She died in June 1952. On Nov. 26, 1953 he married Bessie J. Armstrong in Pittsburgh, Pa. A resident of Taberg since 1959 Mr. McCann retired in 1962 as the custodian of the Camden High School. He was a former resident of Norwalk, Conn. Mr. McCann was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Meeker-O'Rouke Post, American Legion. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Freddy T. (Gertrude) Williams, Brooklyn, Mrs. James T. (Catherine) Nolan, Long Beach, Calif., a son Robert R. McCann, Medford LI, two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Florence) Peters, Westbury, LI, Mrs. Mac (Dorothy) Kunis, Huntington Station, LI, two brothers, Raymond McCann, Huntington, LI, Harold McCann, Brooklyn, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Saturday at Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home and 10 in St. Patrick's Church. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery
