Camden - Lawrence A. (Ike) Kent, 46, executive vice-president of the Camden Wire Co. Inc. and president of the Camden Chamber of Commerce, died unexpectedly this morning at his home, 47 Voorhees Ave., where he had resided for the past 24 yrs.

He was born in Vienna June 5, 1916, a son of Earl & Nellie Brown Kent and was graduated in 1935 from Camden High School. He was also a graduate of the American Management Assoc.. of New York City. On June 18, 1938, he married the former Laura McLaughlin in the Presbyterian Church, Camden. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. B. A. Walton.

Mr. Kent was a member and trustee of the United Church, Presbyterian, and a former elder. he also served as Mayor of Camden from 1955 to 1957. At the time of his death he was vice-president of the Camden Rotary Club and a member of the American Society of Testing Materials, and presently serving on various committees of this organization.

He was also a former village trustee, former member of the Camden Volunteer Fire department, and member and Past Noble Grand of Camden Lodge, IOOF. he also belonged to several other organizations pertaining to the metal and wire industries.

Mr. Kent entered the employe of the Camden Wire Company in 1937 as a wire drawer and worked his way up through the various departments to the position of executive vice-president, a post he has held for the past two years.

Surviving are his parents, Camden, his wife, five sons, Geoffrey A., Nigel E., Rodney B., Vann L. and Hal B. Kent, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. R. Floyd Clark and Mrs. Wallace Wolcott, both of Camden, and Mrs. Charles Hess, Syracuse, two brothers, Harold L. Kent, Syracuse, and Stanley M. Kent, Camden, also several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Thursday at a time and place to be announced later
