Camden - Earl A. Kent, 78, No. 7 Vorhees Ave, died this morning at Rome City Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Vienna January 17, 1886, son of Albert E. & Mary Abel Kent. He and Nellie R. Brown were married December 21, 1907 in Vienna by the Rev. Henry Carey. They resided in Vienna, Canastota and Camden. Mr. Kent was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad for more than 55 years, retiring in 1961. He also was employed by the NY Central RR for a time. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Vienna Masonic Lodge, ex-mayor of Camden and village trustee, and served for some time as treasurer of the Methodist Churches in Canastota and Camden. Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Wallace Wolcott and Mrs. R. Floyd Clark, both of Camden, and Mrs. Charles Hess Jr., Syracuse; two sons, H. LaRue and Stanley Kent, both of Camden, a sister, Mrs. Lucien J. Phelps, Hempstead, LI, 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 pm from the Sanborn Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. George Dolch, pastor of the Methodist Church, and the Rev. Charles Hess, Sr., Syracuse, father of the son-in-law of Mr. Kent, assisting. Burial will be in McConnellsville Cemetery.
