Edward S. Carpenter, 78, of Wheeler Hill Road, Blossvale, died Wednesday July 12, 2006 at Rome Memorial Hospital. he was born April 22, 1928 in Rome, NY, the son of Melvin Cyrus and Stasia Smith Carpenter. He attended Rome Schools and served in the Navy during World War II. On September 17, 1949, he married Sally J. Brodock in St. Mary's Church. She died June 17, 1991. Ed worked for A. J. Ryans, Iseneker's Dairy and retired from Griffiss Air Force Base as a heavy equipment mechanic in 1989. he was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Camden and Williamstown Senior Citizens.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Ken LaRock, Camden, Barbara Carpenter, Blossvale, Brenda and Ken Light, Williamstown, and Bethanie and Darren Sherwood, Taberg, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kim Carpenter, Lee Center, and Jeffrey and Dionne Carpenter, Boonville, and one brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Pat Carpenter, Rome, nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Edith Carrier and Mary Eastup, and six brothers, Robert, James, Tony, Richard, Joe and Denny Carpenter.

Services will be held at the Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals. Interment will be in Rathbunville Cemetery.
