Corneilous M. "Joe" Carpenter, 63, of 7297 Seifert Road, died Monday June 26, 2000 at Rome Hospital after a long illness. he was born May 12, 1927 in Rome, NY, the son of Melvin Cyrus and Stasia Smith Carpenter. He attended Rome schools and was in the U. S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. On December 23, 1962 he married Diane Rouillier in St. Mary's Church. At one time he worked for Revere Copper and Brass, Coleman Brothers, St. Johnsbury, Red Star Express, Roman Roads and DiDervonica Brothers. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Lee Legion, and the Rome Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, one son, J. J. Carpenter, Rome, one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Alfred Eastup, Rome, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edward Carpenter, McConnellsville, Denny and Sandra Carpenter, Verona Beach, and Butch and Pat Carpenter, Rome, several nieces and nephews, and three special friends, Bianca, Bubba and Janet. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith Carrier and four brothers, Robert, Richard, Jim and Tony Carpenter.

Funeral will be held Thursday at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
