Benjamin M. Conrad, 94, of 711 N. Washington St., a native Roman who liked to proudly boast he had never been out of this city for more than two weeks at a time, died last night in the Rome Hospital where he had been a patient since April 30.

An inveterate collector of antiques, Mr. Conrad once owned an 11 piece living room suite made for the King of England about 100 years ago. He once bought a home from Francis Bellamy, author of the Pledge of Allegiance, located at Stanwix and James St., present site of the Victory Market.

On August 17, 1892, he married Gertrude Wood of Rome. The couple lived at 105 E. Bloomfield St. before moving to 711 N. Washington St. Mrs. Conrad died Oct. 4, 1941.

Mr. Conrad was of the Baptist faith and formerly attended the First Baptist Church of Rome. He joined Roman Lodge F & AM in 1908 and received his 50 year membership pin last year. He was a member of the Rome Masonic Club and spent a good many of his hours there.

He leaves a sister, Mrs. Mae Jones, Mt. Claire, NJ, and several nieces and nephews, including Raymond Jones, Essex Fells, NJ., Mrs. Carolyn Ferguson, Mt. Claire, Miss Lila Wood and Mrs. Laura Stewart, both of Rome.
