ONEIDA--Francis O. "Bud" Brown, 74, 419 Lake Road, died Sunday morning, January 9, 2000, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where he had been a patient for the past eight days, having been transferred from the Extended Care Facility, where he had resided for the past five months.

He was born on February 13, 1925, in the Town of Vienna, the son of Orville and Mina McClanathan Brown.

Mr. Brown was educated in Camden schools. He married Frances V. Harp in October 22, 1950, in Durhamville. Mrs. Brown died on September 9, 1993.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Brown was employed with the Harden Furniture Company in McConnellsville, and had previously been employed with Jacks' Tasty Snacks Corporation, formerly of Oneida, for many years. He had also been employed with the Oneida City School District as a school bus driver.

Mr. Brown was a member of the Durhamville Baptist Church, a former member of the Oneida Masonic Lodge No. 270, Free and Accepted Masons and for many years portrayed Santa Claus at various school and civic functions.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Franciene and John Hall of Oneida and Eileen and Michael Allen of Durhamville; one son and daughter-in-law, Alex F. and Sue Brown of Oneida; one brother, Donald Brown of Oneida; three sisters, Nettie Royce of Vienna, Janet Babcock of Camden and Dora Snow of Arcadia, Florida; seven grand-children, Matt, Josh and Jamie Allen, Jaleen, John and Chad Hall and Christopher Brown; one great-grand-child, Andrew Buell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, with the Reverend Kenneth Wales, pastor of the Durhamville Baptist Church and the Reverend Neil Coe, co-officiating. Spring interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., Tuesday. Contributions in his memory, may be made to the Durhamville Baptist Church, Church Street, Durhamville, 13054 or the Residents Activities Fund at Extended Care, 323 Genesee Street, Oneida 13421. Envelopes for these funds may be obtained at the funeral home.
