Bertha A. Bennett, 80, of 170 Island Lake Road, Kodiak, Alaska, passed away Feb. 14, 1992 at home after a brief illness. A beloved mother and grandmother, Bertha enjoyed gardening and baking for her family. She was born Aug. 17, 1911, in Annsville, NY, the daughter of Benjamin & Alice Mansfield Armstrong. She was married to George Bennett in Rome, NY. He died Dec. 6, 1965. Bertha had lived in Kodiak for the past 28 years. At age 80 she was still blessed with a keen mind and wit. She was her daughter's best friend and a continual source of love and counsel to her grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Art Zimmer, Kodiak, Alaska, a sister, Mrs. Alice O'Dell, Westmoreland, a brother, Elmer Armstrong, Lee Center, and three grandchildren, Questa Harper, Melissa Mayberry and Murray Zimmer. She was predeceased by a sister, Mable Marggi. Funeral will be Friday from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut St. Interment in Rome Cemetery.
