Annsville - Elisha U. Handy, aged 85 years, a respected citizen of this town, died at his home about three miles from this village on the Camden road, on Sunday morning. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, George of Taberg, Frank of West Camden, and Charles of Buffalo. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at his late home at 2 o'clock. Rev. Joseph Harkness will officiate. Interment will be made in the family plot in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Frank W. Handy, 81, formerly of Hamilton and Syracuse, died Feb. 13, 1947, in a local hospital after a long illness. He and his wife had been residents at the Home for Aged Men and Couples, 1657 Sunset, for the past year. Mr. Handy was born Nov. 27, 1865 in Annsville, son of the late Elisha and Mary E. Turner Handy, and on Nov. 27, 1888 married Miss Hattie Smith in Camden. He lived in Syracuse for 23 years and was a practicing chiropractor there for 10 years. In Hamilton, where Mr. and Mrs. Handy lived 20 years before coming to Utica, they operated a rooming house. Mr. Handy wa a member of the Brown Memorial Methodist Church in Syracuse, and of the Park Methodist Church in Hamilton. Besides his wife, nieces and nephews survive. Funeral will be at 3 today at the home and burial will be in Camden.


Handy, George W.

At his home on the Taberg Road, Monday evening occurred the death of George W. Handy. Mr. Handy was born in Taberg, May 13, 1846, and was a son of Elisha and Mary Tanner Handy. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Edela Palms. Twenty six years ago he married Mrs. Emogene Williams who survives. He also leaves two sons, Jay Handy of this village and Charles Handy of Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. S. O.Brown and Mrs. Charles Fulcher of Camden, and two brothers, Charles Handy of Akron, NY and Frank Handy of Syracuse. Mr. Handy was a lifelong resident of the town of Annsville and was a member of the Taberg M.E. Church.


Handy, Henrietta Wilmott

Camden - Mrs. Henreitta Handy, 84, a native of Camden, died Tuesday, April 16, in Ypsilanti, Mich., where she had been residing for the past 15 years. The daughter of Emerson and Margaret Chase Wilmott, she was married to Jay Handy Nov. 7, 1906, in Camden, by the Rev. F. L. Knapp. Mr. Handy died Nov. 19, 1945. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Griffith Audas, Ypsilanti, and a son, Roy, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at the Sanborn Funeral Home with the Rev. Allison C. Wood, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Park Cemetery.


Handy, Jay S.

Camden - Jay S. Handy, 71, died at his home, 8 Fifth Street, early today after a serious illness since September. He had been in ill health for two years. He was born in Taberg, Feb 6, 1874, son of George W. and Adella Palms Handy. He was twice married, his first wife having been Jennie Bronson of Williamstown. After her death he married Mrs. Henrietta Van Buren in Camden on Nov. 7, 1906. He was a farmer and later worked in the Young Chair factory. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves his widow, a son, Perry, a step-daughter, Mrs. William Audas, Ypsilanti, Michigan, and uncle, Frank Handy, Hamilton, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Sanborn Funeral home on Thursday, 3 pm, the Rev. W. H. Bradley and the Rev. B. A. Dalton officiating.


Handy, Mary E. Tanner

Taberg - Mrs. Mary E. Handy died at the home of her son, Frank of Syracuse, where she was visiting, July 20, after an illness of only two weeks. On Sunday she had a shock paralyzing her right side. The three sons, George, Charles and Frank were at her side when she died. She was born on the farm where she spent most of her life. She lived from the time of her husband's death with her son George Handy, up to three or four months ago when she went to the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles Fulcher. She was 83 years and 8 months old. In 1845 she was united in marriage with the late E. V.Handy. In 1852 they purchased the farm on which she was born. She had belonged to the ME Church in Taberg over 60 years and was also a charter member of the W.F.M.S. Besides the three sons there are seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Almire Tanner.
