WHITWORTH CEMETERY


Edward Street
Whitworth
Lancashire

 

Whitworth was a chapelry in the township of Spotland in the parish of Rochdale. It lies over the hill from Walsden, and many Walsden folk ended up living and dying there. This municipal cemetery is neat and well landscaped with graves arranged in sections amongst the established trees and shrubs. It is still in use and caters for all denominations.

This stone was erected by the teachers, scholars and congregation of the Wesleyan School and Chapel, Facit, in recognition of the willing and obliging disposition shown to them during the 12 years that he was chapel keeper there
