This
is the Last Will and Testament of me, Samuel Jackson of Potoven
in Walsden in the Parish of Rochdale and County of Lancaster, Farmer.
Whereby
I do give and bequeath unto my son Abraham Jackson the sum of twenty
pounds, and to my daughter-in-law Susan Jackson the sum of ten pounds,
and unto my son Thomas Jackson the sum of twenty pounds, and unto
my son Samuel Jackson the sum of twenty-one pounds, and unto my
son James Jackson the sum of ten pounds, and unto my son Robert
Jackson the sum of ten pounds, and unto my son-in-law John Holding
the sum of ten pounds, and unto my grandsons John and William (sons
of my son William) the sum of forty pounds to be equally divided
amongst them, and to be paid to them when they attain twenty years
of age respectively. Unto my daughter Martha, wife of Zachary Hewarth,
the sum of ten pounds, and unto my son-in-law William Rigg, the
sum of ten pounds.
But
whereas several of my legatees above named stand indebted to me
in the several respective sum answering to their names in the schedule
hereunto annexed, it is my will, and I do order and direct that
each of them shall pay their respective debts before they receive
any legacy or shall account them a part of their respective legacies.
And
all my privilege in Foulclough Coal Pit, if any there be, I do give
and bequeath unto my two sons Thomas and William, share and share
alike.
And
all the rest and residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever
I do give unto my son William Jackson, charged with the payment
of all the before mentioned legacies, the expenses attending my
funeral, the probate and execution of this my last will, together
with all incidental charges in the execution thereof.
And
lastly I do nominate and appoint my sons Thomas and William Jackson
executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof
I do here unto put my hand and seal, the fourth day of December
in the year one thousand eight hundred and two.
