ALFRED WALTER BAYES R.E.

He started life in Lumbutts where he became the village school master with his father until migrating to London to further his studies as an artist. He married Emily Ann Fielden and they raised 4 children who were all also renowned artists. He is known universally as A.W.Bayes RE. (Member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers)
