HOW
TO SELL A HOUSE IN 1793
The
following bill of sale and details of the bidding at an auction
is dated 1793. The original document is held at the West Yorkshire
Archives (Calderdale) in Halifax, along with the deeds for this
house from 1785 to 1842.
It
seems that Thomas Dawson was the tenant of the house and that he
tried to buy it for himself, but was out bidded. Thomas was a shopkeeper
at Knowlwood.
