TODMORDEN FLOOD 1931, SHOWING BURNLEY ROAD WITH THE NATIONAL SCHOOL ON THE LEFT AND

MONS MILL CHIMNEY IN THE DISTANCE

Tuesday 12th November 1931. The river burst its banks at several places after a night of heavy continuous rain. By evening large parts of the town were under water. Some of the lower lying streets suffered the worst, with reports of houses flooded up to the ceilings in the living rooms, with furniture and food floating about everywhere.
