WILL OF ENNIS ORGAN

March Term A D 1832

In the name of God, Amen. I, Ennis Organ of the County of Wilson and State of Tennessee, being weak in body but strong in mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will & Testament, in manner & form following (that is to say):

First, I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Dicy all my property both real & personal of every description during her natural life or widowhood. And at her death or marriage it is my wish that the property both real & personal shall be equally divided amongst my children Viz

Samuel, William, Raleigh, Christopher, Nancy, John, Polly, Sally, Fanny, Patsy, Evaline, to share & share alike to them and their heirs forever.

Second, I will & bequeath unto my beloved daughters, Viz. Nancy, Polly, Salley, Fanny, Patsy and Evaline Twenty dollars each, to be paid to them as they become of age out of the estate.

4th It is my express will & desire that my beloved wife Dicy remain and live on the place and that she is not to sell or convey in her lifetime a part of the property either real or personal except such as may be necessary for the support of the family.

I further will that my named executors take the mortgage at my decease that I hold on Simpson Organ and as soon as he should pay the same I authorize my executors to release said mortgage. I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the 9th day of February 1832.

Signed, sealed, published & declared by the abovenamed Ennis Organ to his last Will & Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator.

Wilson County Court March Sessions A D 1832

The last Will & Testament of Ennis Organ introduced in open court and duly proven by William Chappell, William Coe & Simpson Organ the subscribing witnesses thereto it was ordered by the court to be recorded. And thereupon came Benj____ Billings one of the executors named in said Will & entered bond to execute the same, was qualified and took Letters Testamentary.

Notes: Ennis Organ was the son of Samuel Organ and Sarah Simpson. He was born in Virginia about 1773 and was residing in Halifax County, VA, before moving to Wilson County, TN, about 1810, with his brothers. Ennis married Dicey Robertson, daughter of Charles Robertson, 25 Sep 1799 in Halifax Co, VA.

Their children, as named in the above Will were Samuel b. abt 1800; William b. abt 1801 m. Anne Martin in 1826; Raleigh b. 1803 & m. Rebecca Mabry in Wilson Co, TN; Christopher b. 1805 who lived in Overton Co, TN; Nancy b. abt 1807 who m. Robert Forguson; John b. 1809 m. 1) Patsy Johnson & 2) Elizabeth Benthal Lash; Mary "Polly" b. 1810 m. Wm. D. Grace; Sarah b. 1813 m. James Billings; Fanny b. 1815; Patsy b. 1817 and Evaline b. 1819 m. John C. Rainey.
