Union Church
The infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Dov. MARTIN died very suddenly last Sunday
morning.

Cottage Home
There is considerable sickness in this section and some deaths occurred last week. Mr. J. BRYANT died of consumption; Mrs. DAVIDSON of flux;
Mrs. Ella HAMILTON, widow of S.C. HAMILTON, is very low with a complication of
diseases; Mr. Walter EDWARDS is suffering from malarial poison.
Pg. 2 Statesville
Mr. Mathy TRIBBLE died Monday evening. He leaves a wife and 4
children to mourn his loss. His funeral was preached by Rev. H.J. LANHAM of the
C.P. Church.
Mrs. James ARMSTRONG died this morning. She was a member of the C.P. Church of
this place.
Mrs. Dellar DAVIDSON died the 25th ult. of the flux. Her mother, Mrs. SHELTON of
Nashville,
and her sister, Mrs. SMITH of Smithville, came Wednesday night to attend the
burial.

JARRELL Last Monday evening at his home on North Cumberland Street
died one of Lebanon’s oldest citizens old Uncle Billy JARRELL, aged 82 years.
His remains were followed to their last resting place in pretty Cedar Grove
Cemetery by a large concourse of friends.

Death of an Eminent Lady
Mrs. J.A. FITE of Carthage died last Monday afternoon. Her husband,
Judge J.A. FITE, is a brother to Dr. J.L. FITE of this town. She leaves a
husband and one child, a young lady just entering into the responsibilities of
life. Mrs. Dr. J.L. FITE and son Albert, and Capt. H.T. NORMAN attended the
funeral from this place.

Cottage Home
Mr. James YOUNG and Miss Ida DENNIS were married a few days ago.
Pg. 3 Died
Miss Belle CARTER, daughter of Mr. C.T. CARTER, died last Thursday
of a congestive chill. This is the second one of Mr. CARTER’S daughters that
has died during the past 3 months.
The arrow of death has reached another shining mark, Mrs. A.B. MARTIN, nee
Miss Alice READY, is dead. Mrs. Andrew B. MARTIN, at her home in
Lebanon, Sunday, September 7. Funeral services were held at the Cumberland
Church by Drs. KIRKPATRICK and FITZGERALD at 11:00 Monday. Her remains were
deposited in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Married
Last Wednesday, Mr. Albert NUNNELLY was married to Miss Lelia BRADLEY of
Cainsville. Mr. NUNNELLY has been managing the express and mail business on the
N & K Railroad and still holds that position.

Mr. J.L. TRIBBLE & Miss Lillie JENNINGS were married yesterday.
Rev. J.T. OAKLEY officiated.
Mr. William PATTERSON, and old and respected citizen, died last Sunday evening.
Died
The many friends of Esq. T.J. LEA sympathize deeply with him in the
loss of his most excellent wife who died Thursday last after a brief illness.

R.W. SKEEN of the 21st district was married to Miss Lillie FISHER, a
charming young lady of the Western part of the county
