2nd (E.S. Smith’s) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment (originally 10th and also called 11th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion) was organized as a battalion in February 1862; was increased to a regiment in April 1862; and was disbanded in May 1862.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonel - E.S. Smith.

    Lieutenant Colonel - Zachariah Thomason.

    Captains
        - Samuel P. Thompson (mustered into Confederate service at Camp Cheatham on January 3, 1862.  Men were from Smith and Wilson Counties. It became Company "G", 4th (Starnes’) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment).

4th (Starnes’) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment was organized as Starne’s Battalion on December 11, 1861; it was increased to a regiment May 26, 1862; and was last recorded in Dibrell’s Brigade of General Joseph E. Johnston’s Army in January 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - James W. Starnes, W.S. McLemore.

    Lieutenant Colonel - Peril C. Haynes.

    Majors - Peter T. Rankin, W.S. McLemore.

    Captains -
        - Company "B" - John R. Davis, John L. Britton, Edward L. Collier (Co. "B" was organized at Hartsville, Tennessee on October 19, 1861; transferred into Confederate service at Camp Cheatham on December 8, 1861).
        - Company "C" - James M. Phillips, E.L. Lindsey (Co. "C" was organized at Nashville, Tennessee on October 29, 1861).

8th (Baxter Smith’s) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment was annulled after it was organized November 24, 1862; it was again organized on January 23, 1863; and was finally paroled at Charlotte, North Carolina on May 3, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonel - Baxter Smith.

    Lieutenant Colonel - Paul F. Anderson (was Captain of Co. "K")

    Major - Willis S. Bledsoe.

    Captains -
        - Company "D" (also called "E", formerly in Davis’ Battalion (q.v.)) - James M. Phillips (men from DeKalb and Wilson Counties.).
        - Company "F" (formerly in Davis’ Battalion (q.v.)) - James R. Lester (men from Wilson County).
        - Company "K" ("The Cedar Snags" & "Paul’s People") - Paul F. Anderson, James H. Britton (organized July 1, 1862 at McMinnville, Warren County. Men from Davidson, DeKalb, Sumner and Wilson Counties. Formerly Escort Company for General Wharton. Later Escort Company for General Hood).

9th (Bennett’s) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment was organized into a battalion on September 1, 1862; it increased to a regiment November 24, 1862; was captured (for the most part) during Morgan’s raid into Ohio in 1863; then served out the remainder of their service in Duke’s Brigade of the 1st Kentucky Cavalry Battalion. 

Field Officers were: 
   
Colonels - James D. Bennett, William W. Ward.

    Lieutenant Colonels - William W. Ward, Robert A. Alston.

    Majors - Robert A. Alston, J. Richard McCann.

    Captains -
        - Company "H" - John W. Wiseman (Co. "H" organized September 1, 1861 at Camp Trousdale in Sumner County, Tennessee. Men from Sumner, Trousdale and Wilson Counties. Became 2nd Company "G" in December 1862).

1st Tennessee Heavy Artillery Regiment was a temporary organization. The regiment served under Major General Frank Gardner at Port Hudson, Louisiana from December of 1862 until that point was surrendered on July 10, 1863.  2nd Company "C".

7th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Trousdale, Sumner County on May 28, 1861; was mustered into Confederate service in July 1861; was reorganized in April 1862; and surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - Robert Hatton, John F. Goodner, John A. Fite.

    Lieutenant Colonels - John F. Goodner, John K. Howard, John A. Fite, Samuel G. Shepard.

    Majors - John K. Howard, John A. Fite, William H. Williamson.

    Captains -
        - Company "D" ("The Harris Rifles") - James M. Anderson, Marcus L. Walsh.
        - Company "F" ("The Statesville Tigers") - Nathan Oakley, Asaph Hill, John C. Sloan.
        - Company "G" ("The Hurricane Rifles") - Samuel G. Shepard, James H. Bond, William F. Graves.
        - Company "H" ("The Grays") - John K. Howard, William H. Williamson, William N. Tate, Fergus S. Harris.
        - Company "I" ("The Silver Spring Guards") - Joseph A. Anthony, William E. Kurd, James O. Bass.
        - Company "K" ("The Blues") - Robert Hatton, Thomas H. Bostick, Archibald D. Norris.

18th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized June 11, 1861; transferred to Confederate service on August 7, 1861; was reorganized September 26, 1862; formed field consolidation with the 26th Tennessee Infantry Regiment in October 1863; formed Company "I", 4th Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment April 9, 1865; and was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonel - Joseph B. Palmer

    Lieutenant Colonels - A.G. Carden, William R. Butler

    Majors - Samuel W. Davis, W.H. Joyner

    Captains
        - Company "I" - A.G. Carden, William L. Putman, Z.W. Williams

24th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized August 6, 1861; transferred to Confederate service August 24, 1861; was reorganized May 2, 1862; formed Company "F", 3rd Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment April 9, 1865; and was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - R.D. Allison, H.L.W. Bratton, John A. Wilson.

    Lieutenant Colonels - Thomas H. Peebles, J.J. Williams, H.L.W. Bratton, John A. Wilson, S.E. Shannon.

    Majors - J.J. Williams, H.L.W. Bratton, S.E. Shannon, William C. Fielding.

    Captains
        - Company "K" (men from Coffee & Wilson Counties) - T.C. Goodner, Henry C. McBroom, Thomas H. Ragsdale.

28th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized September 28, 1861; transferred to Confederate service October 3, 1861; was reorganized May 8, 1862; merged with 84th Tennessee Infantry March 8, 1863 to form 28th Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment; merged into 1st Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment April 9, 1865; and was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - John P. Murray, Uriah T. Brown, Preston D. Cunningham, David C. Brook.
                    After 28th Consolidated – Sidney S. Stanton, David C. Crook.

    Lieutenant Colonels - Jonathan Eatherly, Preston D. Cunningham, David C. Crook.
                    After 28th Consolidated – David C. Crook, W. Gooch Smith.

    Majors - James H. Talbert, David C. Crook, Eli D. Simrell.
                    After 28th Consolidated – W. Gooch mith, John B. Holman

    Captains
        - Company "F" (consolidated with "A" to become Company "B") - Jonathan Eatherly, Wade Baker, John B. Holman. Organized September 18, 1861.

38th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized September 23, 1861 at Camp Abington, Fayette County, Tennessee; was reorganized in May 1862; formed Company "B", 3rd Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment April 9, 1865; and was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - Robert F. Looney, John C. Carter.

    Lieutenant Colonels - Edward J. Golladay, Andrew D. Gwynne, H.D. Greer (declined).

    Majors - D.H. Thrasher, H.A. Abington (declined), Hamilton W. Cotter. 

    Captains
        - Company "E" (later 2nd Company "H") - Edward J. Golladay, J.W. Hardy, Thomas G. Cook.

45th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was organized December 1861; was reorganized in May 1862; consolidated in late 1862 with 23rd Tennessee Infantry Battalion into a field unit; and formed part of the 4th Tennessee Consolidated Infantry Regiment; and was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865.

Field Officers were: 
    Colonels - Addison Mitchell, Anderson Searcy.

    Lieutenant Colonels - Ephraim F. Lytle, Alex Hall.

    Majors - Samuel A. Carter, Caswell H. Wadley, Tazewell W. Newman, James B. Moore. 

    Captains
        Company "B" - Samuel A. Carter (later Major), R.B. Hare, J.F. Coe, W.H. Vernon, Henry C. Irbey.
        Company "F" - William B. Oldham, J.H. McLaren, Brett Hardy.
        Company "G" - S.S. Preston, John F. Puckett.
        Company "H" - Andrew H. Baird.
