SIXTH CHILD OF JACOB SHERRILL, SR. AND HULDA WILSON, AND SOME OF THEIR DESCENDANTS.

The following information was recorded by W.A.S., 20 May 1967. It was obtained from Jean Smith; Halbert Bible Records; F. Worth Williams, Topeka, Kansas; Potts History; History of Hickory County, Missouri; Wanda Clark; Will Book 1, page 302; Mrs. Gloria Scott, 1266 East Cambridge, Springfield, MO 65804.

7.6. EPHRAIM SHERRILL, sixth child of Jacob Sherrill, Sr. and Hulda Wilson, was born 22 October 1773 in North Carolina. He was married to Annie Potts, born 17 January 1771, daughter of James Potts and Sarah Tinnen. Ephraim immigrated to Wilson County, Tennessee and about 1840 to Springfield, Missouri. Annie Potts (Sherrill) died 14 Aug 1843 and he died 17 Oct 1849. Both died in Cross Timbers, Hickory County, Missouri. Issue:

1. Alanson Sherrill died when a young man in Wilson Co., TN.
2. Mary Tirzah Sherrill, b. 24 Mar 1807, in Wilson Co., TN. M. Joel Blackburn Halbert, 25 May 1825. Died 14 Jan 1867 in Cross Timbers, Hickory County, MO.

7.6.2. MARY TIRZAH SHERRILL, daughter of Ephraim Sherrill and his wife, Ann Potts, was born 24 March 1807 in Wilson County, TN. She was married 25 May 1825 in Wilson County, TN, to Joel Blackburn Halbert, M.D., son of Enos Halbert and Nancy Garner. He was born 18 October 1803/4, in Anderson County, South Carolina. On 10 April 1842, Joel Halbert, Tirzah and her mother, Annie Potts (Sherrill) were dismissed by letter, from the Spring Creek Presbyterian Church, Wilson County, Tennessee, and the entire family, including Ephraim Sherrill, moved to Hickory County, Missouri. Tirzah Sherrill (Halbert) died 14 January 1867 near Cross Timbers, Hickory County, Missouri and was buried there in the Walker cemetery. Joel B. Halbert was married, second, to Mrs. Charlotte A. (Hall) Noland, 14 October 1869. He died 16 November 1877 and is also buried in the Walker Cemetery, near Cross Timbers, Hickory County, Missouri. Issue:

13. Christiana Juliett Halbert, b. 11 Jul 1851, Hickory Co., MO. M. Albert F. Dickenson. D. 1931.

7.7 MARY "POLLY" SHERRILL, daughter of Jacob Sherrill, Sr. and Hulda Wilson, was born 1780-85, probably in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She was married in 1810 to William Stacy, born 1787 in North Carolina. Their license was dated 19 December 1810, Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee, Bradford Howard was surety. After their marriage, they moved to Carroll County, Tennessee. William Stacy died in 1865. Mary "Polly" Sherrill died probably in Carroll County, Tennessee and was probably buried there. Issue:

1. Grincy Jane Stacy, b. ca 1814, TN. M. James H. Sherrill (7.11.3).
2. Elizabeth Stacy, b. ca 1815, TN. M. Alexander Lowrence.
