Benjamin was shot and killed by his son in law Vance Wilson (who had married 2 of Benjamin's daughters). Apparently, the reason for the killing was an argument over the killing shortly after the Civil War of a Harrison Thomas, a son in law of Benjamin (no idea which of the daughters had married Harrison Thomas) He was killed by Burt Willard, who had married Melisa Francis (relative of Mary Francis ODOM, wife of James S. ODOM, Benjamin's brother) Melisa Francis was in turn related to Vance Wilson. Wilson had been drinking and subsequently fatally shot his father in law which was the beginning of the long and deadly ODOM /WILSON feud which resulted in the death of 2 of Benjamin's sons, Charley & Dock ODOM.... 6.
