Notes for GREGORY CLAYTON:
Gregory C Clayton and Anninsia Mackey Clayton were married in 1894 and had five children when they packed their belongings into a covered wagon to go to Clay County, Arkansas to join family already settled there. They arrived in Boydsville, Arkansas in 1903, where two more children were born to this Catholic couple. The family continued affiliation with St Mary's Church, Paragould, throughout the years they lived in the area. Gregory was inducted into the Knights of Columbus at St Mary's in 1913.
Gregory farmed at Boydsville, then moved to Rector, Arkansas about 1906, working in the sawmill there. In 1918, Gregory moved his family to nearby Paragould, in Greene County, and took a job at Wrape's Heading Mill. Asia and Mary had already moved away. One by one the other children moved away. In 1924 Gregory and Anna moved to Chicago, Illinois, where some of their children were living, remaining there until they died in the 1960s.

Father-( ? ) Mother-( ? ) Married-ALVEY, GEORGE See Lebanon Enterprise, 2/24/1933, Friday---HOLY CROSS---When the news reached here last Thursday of the death of Mrs. Ophelia Alvey, beloved wife of George Alvey of Louisville, many were bowed in grief as Mrs. Alvey was formerly of Holy Cross and had a number of friends and relatives here. She was near her 70th year and was truly a good mother and faithful wife. She was buried in Lebanon Saturday morning beside her 3 children who died some years ago. Also see same issue, page 4---BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL---The body of Mrs. Ophelia Alvey, a former resident of this city, who died at her home in Louisville Thursday morning at 11:30 o'clock, was brought here Saturday morning for burial in St. Augustine's Cemetery. Services were held at the Holy Cross Church in Louisville at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Alvey was the wife of George Alvey and was about 70 years old. Before coming to this city to live she resided in the Holy Cross section of the county. The family moved to Louisville many years ago. Other than her husband she is survived by one son, Neal W. Alvey, and two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Newton and Mrs. Margaret McDermott, all of Louisville. Three children preceded her to the grave.

He is listed as a saloon keeper located at 1530 12th St and resides at 1215 W. Kentucky Ave. In 1910 his business is at 1502 Maple Ave and he resides at 749 S. 15th St. (same address as Charles H when he died at age 6). In 1922 George R is listed as a gardener. In 1932 George R is listed with wife Orphelia living at 3506 Magazine St. (same address as in 1922). George is listed for the last time in the 1934 directory. Have not found him in the1900 census but he is in Louisville in 1910 and 1920. Also living with him in 1920 is W L Newton.

Alvey, who died Tuesday morning at 10:55 o'clock at his home in Louisville, was brought here yesterday morning and buried in St. Augustine's Cemetery by the side of his wife, Mrs. Ophelia Brothers Alvey, who passed away a little more than a year ago. Funeral services were held at Holy Cross Church in Louisville at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Alvey, who died following a several month's illness of diabetes, was born and reared in the Holy Cross section of this county. When a young man he came to this city and for a number of years operated a saloon. During the years he spent in Lebanon he made friends of all his acquaintances. He had been making his home in Louisville for some time. He was 75 years old and his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Atterson Alvey, both deceased. He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Newton and Mrs. Margaret McDermott, and a brother, Ed Alvey, all of Louisville. Several grandchildren also survive.

She is survived by her father and mother and two sisters and two brothers.
Miss Alvey was born and reared in this county and lived at Holy Cross and in this city prior to her parents moving to Louisville. She was an ideal, Christian woman and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She had been an invalid for several months before her death, but bore her suffering with Christian fortitude. She passed away fortified by all the sacraments of her church and expressing entire confidence in the love of her Devine Master. Many friends extend sympathy to the family in their great sorrow.

Funeral services were held in Louisville. Mr. Alvey's death was due to complications with which he had suffered for several months. He was 36 years old, and was a son of George Alvey, who survives. The Alvey family resided in this city, until moving to Louisville many years ago. Before coming to Lebanon they lived at Holy Cross. Mr. Alvey was a fine young man and had numerous relatives and friends here and in the county who were grieved to learn of his death. Besides his father, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Newton and Mrs. Margaret McDermott of Louisville.

Mrs Ellen Irene Alvey, 95, formerly of Holy Cross dies. Mrs Ellen Irene Ferriell Alvey, widow of Kit Alvey, formerly of Holy Cross died on Thursday Jan 31, in Louisville. She would have been 95 years old on 2/7. She was born and reared and spent most of her life in the Holy Cross section. An only son, Joe Alvey, preceded her to the grave years ago. A grandson, Bromie Alvey whom she reared, survived.. There also are 3 surviving nephews and a niece, Henry, Claud dn. Bert Sims and Miss Mabel Sims, all of Dayton, OH. Funeral and burial were in Louisville on Monday.

DIES AT HOLY CROSS---Kit Alvey, aged 58 years, died at his home near Holy Cross Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, of tuberculosis. The funeral services were held Sunday morning at Holy Cross Church, conducted by Rev. A,. M. Zoeller, and the interment was in the church cemetery adjoining the church. He is survived by his wife, and 1 son; also by 3 brothers, Ed, Tom and George, all of Louisville. He was popular in the community in which he lived and his many friends unite in expressing sorrow at his death.
