In the name of God Amen. I James Odom of Sumner County and State of Tennessee, being desirous of settling my temporal affairs, do make and ordain this following my last Will and Testament: In the first place: I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter, Elizabeth Elliston, my negro woman Cate her increase. Secondly: I give and begueath unto my three Grandsons Jordan Tarrin, James Tarren, and Bird Tarren, all my land where their father Benjamin Tarren now lives, on the west side of Deshers Creek, containing one hundred acres more or less, with the express condition that their mother Sally Tarren shall possess and enjoy said land and the profits arising therefrom during life. Thirdly: I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter, Eliza Tarren, my negro girl named Soppha, and her increase provided that my daughter Sally Tarren, before named, shall have the use and labour of said negro girl Soppha so long as my said daughter shall live. Fourthly: I give and bequeath to my son Moses Odom, my negro fellow named Frank and my negro girl named Polly. Fifthly: I give and bequeath to my daughter Polly Elliott one negro girl named Charlotte, and one other negro girl named Sally. Sixthly: I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Betsy Elliott, a negro girl named Hester. Seventhly: I give and bequeath to my son Eli Odom the remainder of my land on Deshers (Desha's) Creek, lying on the West side of said creek containing by estimation three hundred acres more or less, also my negro man Ray and one negro girl name Phozie. Eighth: I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Harris Odom, the tract of land whereon I now live, containing two hundred and ninety acres; also my negro man named Moses and negro woman named Black Dark, likewise two negro boys named Anthony and Jonis. My further will and desire is that Yellow Dark, commonly called Dark, B___w my other negro woman be left in the hands of my son Eli Odom and son in law George Elliott in trust for the use and benefit of my daughter Sally Tarren. Lastly: I constitute and appoint my son Eli Odom and my son in law George Elliott Execs. of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of February in the year One Thousand Eighteen hundred and Eighteen.
