I, John McLIN of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee being of sound and
dispossing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testiment in the
manner and form following (to wit) my wish is that all my just debts, and funerel expences
shall be paid, and then give and bequeth to my beloved wife Sally my Negro woman Seely
and her three Children Elva, Amanda and David, also my boy ____ that I have just
bought, also I will and bequeth to my wife Sally One Hundred Dollars in Cash, also one
horse beast of her own choise out of my stock then on hand, also the bed and Burow and
all that belonged to her when we were married, also I will that my wife Sally have her
support off, and live on the farme that I now live on while she lives or during her
widohood, and that have enough of my farming tools and hear to carry on the farm.
I will and bequeth to my son James N. McLIN the place that he now lives on, containing
as is supposed one Hundred and twenty-three acres, begining at a black gum and shuger
tree my norteast corner of the track I live on runing with the fence as it is now to the
middle of the lain southwest with the lain till it strikes the originel north boundry of the
place I live on, thence with the calls of the deed I hold on Nickless STONE to have and to
hold forever. I will that my carding Machine be Sold at publick sail and that my son James
have one half of the proceds,
I also will that my two Daughters Catherine E. McLIN and Polly L. McLIN have all the
beds and furniture, and that they have a horse apeace of the value of fiftyfive Dollars and
that my two Daughters above named have ahundred and fifty Dollars in Money each, I
also will that all my Books be equally Divided betwen my wife Sally and my five Children.
I will that Catherine E. McLIN have my Sacreterry and that Polly L. McLIN have a burow
of the value of twenty five Dollars
I will that all my house and kitchen furniture remain as long as my wife Sally lives or
remains a widow, and then to be equally Divided betwen my four Daughters Nancy,
Catherine, Polly and Betcy or the heirs of their bodys I also will and bequeth to Nancy C.
DOBBINS Catherine E. McLIN, Polly L. McLIN, and Betcy A. CARR and the heirs of
their bodie, the track of land that I live on, included in a Deed that I hold on James
STEWART, I will that my tools of all discrption with the excption of what will be needed
to carry on the farm, together with the wagon be sold and the proceads be equally Divided
with my five Children, and should thare remeain any thing over to be divided in like
manner,

Sumner County Court May Term 1849.
The last Will and Testament of John McLIN decd. was this day produced in Open Court
for Probate which being without subscribing witnesses was proved by the Oath of Samuel
WILSON, David JOHNSON & Peter H. MARTIN as follows towit said witnesses from
their Oaths State that they were well acquainted with the Testator in his life time, that they
have often seen him oute and about they verily believe that the Paper now before the
Court dated the 30th December 1846 with every part thereof is in the hand writing of the
Said John McLIN decd whose Will it appear to be and that the hand writing of the Said
John McLIN is personally known by his acquaintance Which is Ordered by the Court to be
recorded
