In the name of God Amen. I Robert Holmes of Tennessee, Sumner county do make ordain and declare this instrument which is written with my own hand there of subscribed with my name to be my last will and testament revoking all others: that all my lawfull debts is to be paid as soon as possible, likewise the land that I live on at this time at my death is to be divided betwixt my two sons, Thomas Holmes and Albert G. Holmes and Elouis in the divide of the land to clear his building. Striking (sic) I live east West the rest of the plantations is to be equally divided betwen my two sons only if God calls me out of this world before my wife Margery Holmes she is to get her living ____ of the place. she is to have a mare of her own choosing, likewise two good milk cows of her own choosing, likewise her kitchen affairs also the household affairs such as bedding the like the other property is to (be) sold & the money reserved for wife as long as she lives. and at her death she is to devide (sic) the property amongst her children as she thinks proper if God spears(sic) her to live longer than me, this given under my hand & seal day day(sic) and year above written as witness my hand & seal acknowledged before us by R. Holmes as his last will & testament 15th Mar 1833 A. H. Douglas.

Sumner county court of March Term 1838

On motion ordered by the court that Albert Holmes be appointed administrator of all & singlular the goods & chattals rights and credits of Robert Holmes decd and thereupon the said Albert Holmes with Moses H. Henry his security entered into & acknowledged their bond to Newton Craven Governor in the sum of four hundred dollars _____ as the law directs and took the oath of an administrator ___ by law.
