In 1859 he married Amanda, daughter of Isaac and Mary Baker, and born in Sumner County in 1841. Their children are Willie E., wife of Fred Weatherbee, of Boston; Thomas H., a farmer; Isaac, deceased; Hettie E.; Alexander C., clerking in California; Mary B., David L., Winfield S. and Bessie H. -- the last three in school.
