In the name of god Amen: I, William DOUGLASS of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee being in sound mind and memory, I do make and publish this my last will and testament, that is to say I _ unto my beloved wife Margaret the land and plantation that I now live on, during her natural life, also the following property: four negroes, namely, David, G___, Cloe, and Harry, t_ feather beds and furniture. Dish Bureau and Cupboard, also four cows and calves and one yoke of steers and wagon likewise six sows and piggs, and at her death I do give and bequeath the plantation land, negroes and their increase with the other property she is possessed of at her death to my son Alfred DOUGLASS and his heirs forever. And the residue of my estate after my just debts are paid, I do equally divide amongst the following persons: John DOUGLASS, Elizabeth SEALY (?), Alfred M. DOUGLASS, Jesse DOUGLASS illegitimate son of Elizabeth SEALY (?), Polly DEMENT, Alexander HOWELL, illegitimate son of Margaret HOWELL, and Salley Maydal? Her children to have her part equally divided amongst them and last I constitute and appoint my son Alfred DOUGLASS my _ and sole Executor of this the last will and Testament, revoking and disannulling all former wills heretofore made, confirming this only as my last will and Testament, as witnessed whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixes my seal this the second day of August in the year of our Lord Christ Eighteen hundred and fourteen. Int_ before assigned the words to my son Alfred DOUGLASS and his heirs forever, Signed Sealed, and delivered in presence of us.

The last will and Testament of William DOUGLASS was exhibited in Court for Probate and thereupon John WATSON and Anderson STROUD subscribing witnesses thereto made oath that the said William DOUGLASS, signed, sealed, published pronounced and declared the same to be his last will and Testament, and that he was at the time of signing the same of sound mind and memory, whereupon the said last will and Testament is ordered to be recorded, and at the same time Alfred DOUGLASS Executor _ in said last will and Testament appeared in court and qualified as such, by taking the oath of an executor as prescribed by law and together with Mathis SEALY (?) and John WATSON Sr. his securities entered into and acknowledged this bond to the Governor in the penalty of five thousand dollars conditional as the law directs.
