Know all men by these presents that we W. J. FLEMING, & MARNEVIA J. SHERRON & Husband THORNTON SHERRON, & SARAH MATOX and

A. C. MATTOX her Husband, & B. FLEMING & J. H. FLEMING have this day sold our interest in tract of land in Sumner County, Tenn on the waters of the Middle Fork of Drakes Creek of Barren River and Civil District No. 15 for the consideration twenty five Dollars to us in hand paid, and bounded as follows to wit on the North by J. K. GANT, West by A. B. BICKERSTAFF, South by JOHN & ANDREW RIPPEY, East by J. K. GANT.  This land is the undivided interest in the widow JAMES FLEMING Dower.  We further covenant with the said

R. T. FLEMING that we are lawfully seized of said land and the same is unencumbered.  We have the Right to transfer it.  We further bind ourselves, our heirs, and assigns to forever warrant and defend the title to the said

R. T. FLEMING, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all and every person whatever. 

 

In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals this the 16th day of January 1871 and in presence of us.

Personally appeared before me, JESSE CAGE, Clerk of the County Court of Sumner County, ANDREW RIPPY and J. M. GANT the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing deed depose and that they are personally acquainted with

W. J. FLEMING, MARNIVA J. SHERRON, THORNTON SHERRON,

SARAH S. MATTOX, A. C. MATTOX, B. FLEMING, and JAMES H. FLEMING and that they saw these sign the within deed and had their acknowledgement for the same for the ___  herein contained.  Witness my hand at office this the 4th day of May 1872.
