Mattie Moore and Annie Lee Goodall
Mattie ( she might have been born a Martha, but I've never seen her named
anything else) Moore was the daughter of John C. Moore and Frances Ellen
Goodall Moore. F.E. Goodall Moore was a daughter of Harrison Aiken Goodall
of Tucker's Crossroads in Wilson County, and a younger sister to George Van
Buren Goodall, Annie Lee Goodall's (on the right) father. John Moore was one
of Capt. George C. Moore's three brothers, born and raised in Smith County.

Mattie Moore married W. S. Marks and their only daughter, Frances Marks Stanley, was my
father's double second cousin being a great niece of both his paternal Moore and maternal
Goodall grandparents. Annie Lee Goodall married Gordon Clark Moore, only son of Capt.
George C. Moore, on October 9, 1909. (See picture below) Frances grew up with my father
and his siblings and as an only child and near neighbor, she was more like a sister than cousin.

John C. Moore [21 Dec 1837 -- 20 Jun 1908], his wife Frances Ellen Goodall Moore
[23 Jun 1851 -- 19 Jan 1923], their daughter Mattie Moore Marks [1879 --1944], her
husband W. S. Marks [2 Jul 1844 --1 Sep 1910] (See photo of him below he was older
than Mattie's mother!), and their only child, Frances Marks Stanley [1908 - 1971] are all
buried with my Moore relations in the Neal Moore Cemetery east of New Middleton.
Frances' husband Charles Stanley passed away only this last year. (2002)

Note: I've often thought about my grandmother, born 1883 in Mt. Juliet, TN. She grew up
with the horse and buggy (She said that when my grandfather came calling he always had
the best horse and carriage - kinda like the guy with the hottest car) and she raised her
children without electricity. Yet by the time she died at age 96 she had lived to see four
wars, radios, television and movies invented and come into common used, planes
transformed to jets, and men walking on the moon. Here she is - Annie Lee Goodall -
on the right about 1900, with her first cousin, Mattie Moore of Smith County.
She ended up marrying Mattie's first cousin - Gordon Moore of Smith County. (Karen)
