The Old Homeplace abt - 1906
James first built a log home and later this white frame house and used the old log structure
for a kitchen. Woman between horses is Della daughter of Marshall Franklin Gregory
Older lady is Mary Blevins Gregory second wife of James Gregory.

During the Civil War they drilled a hole in the floor and streched out a sheet to catch their
grain and hide it from the Union soldiers, putting a rug & furniture over the hole. This story
handed down from Della (my grandmother who's grandfather (James) had told her the story.
This house is no longer standing and only lives in memories now.
