William Stokes Gregory Family
William Stokes Gregory b.Aug 19, 1860 with wife Sarah H. Smith b.Jan 28, 1865 both being born
in Smith County. Children in picture (left to right) Bessie, Daisy and Sallie.
William Stokes was the son of James J. Gregory b. 1819 and Alethia Oldaham b.1825.
James was the Son Of Big Tom b.1787 and Bettie Gregory. They were first cousins Big Tom was the
son of Thomas Jr.b. 1760 and Bettie was the dau. of Bry b. abt.1761. Thomas Jr and Bry were believed
to be born in North Carolina and were the Sons of Thomas Sr. b. 1725. These early Gregory's were in
Smith Co by the Early 1800's. James and Letha had at least 13 Children:

Sarah H. was the daughter of Thomas M. and Sally Beasley.
William Stokes was a twin his sister Lucinda is pictured on the website:
James and Letha are burried at the gregory cemetery on Towtown Road:
