George Pierce Carpenter was born March 31, 1861 and died November 22, 1931
Ada May Salter was born June 12, 1872 and died July 13, 1961
Ada Salter is the grand daughter of Julia Davis Powell McDonald. Julia married Edmond Powell
and they had a couple of kids before he died. Julia then married Col McDonald from Carthage.
Ada's mother is Edna Powell, Julia's daughter from the first marriage.
Edna married Dr Francis Salter after the Civil War. He was a surgeon trained in England and
was part of the Ohio 7th Regimen. He later worked for the government in Washington DC where
Edna Powell Salter died in in 1878 and Dr Francis Salter died in 1879. 2 of their children,
Ada and G. K. C. (Kenny), were in Washington DC with Dr Salter when he died.
They were put on a stage coach to Carthage where they grew up.
George Kenyon Cox Salter (Kenny) died in Nashville and was buried in Carthage in 1895.
The other child from Francis and Edna (Eddie) Salter was Amy (Amie) Salter who married
Samual S. Neal from Carthage in 1889.
