Waufford Cemetery
The Waufford Cemetery is located one half mile south of Sykes community. It is on a
hilltop near the intersection of Jenkins Hill Road, Wills Lane, and Kyle Hollow Lane.

Waufford, Bartley 9 Sep 1832 - 21 July 1895
Waufford, Elizabeth 28 Mar 1846 - (14 Mar 1922)*
"Since thou canst no longer stay

*No date of death on tombstone. This date from family source
Bartley Waufford/Warford was a Confederate soldier serving in 7th
Tennessee Inf.- Company A. He lost a leg in battle of Shepardstown,
Va. The prosthesis leg he used was preserved after his death by
the family. It is presently on display in the Smith County Heritage
Museum. Bartley married Elizabeth Manners in Smith Co TN on 29 Oct
1874. They were parents of three girls.
