The Tuggle Cemetery
The Tuggle Cemetery is located at #66 Dawson Lane which is three-tenths mile from
Opossum Hollow Road in the Grant Community. The cemetery is approx. one-half miles
east of the Smith/Wilson County line on the north side of Interstate 40.
The impressive Tuggle homeplace build of logs ca.1840 still stands on the opposite
side of Interstate 40 from the cemetery. The cemetery was partially bulldozed
several years ago and a large tombstone which was recorded in the Smith Co.
cemetery book is now face down and cannot be read. Those names are as follows:

Tuggle, H.W. 1826-1917
Tuggle, H.J. 1833(8)?-1904
Tuggle, E.J. 1837-1921(?)
Tuggle, S.B. 1821-1904
Tuggle, M.C.(G) 1830-1919
Ballinger, M.P. 1813-1895

We found the following additional tombstones:
Gill, Thomas 5 May 1821-18 Mar 1854
Paschal, M.F. Died 2 Mar 1853
Tuggle, Elizabeth 31 Aug 1839-7 May 1915
"At Rest"

There are several other tombstones that are buried and many graves marked with fieldstones.
